2010 Junior Claycourt Championships
|21/Jun/2010||(No Expiry Date)||It was something of an irony that as it rained down on the All England Club in Wimbledon, the sun literally split the clay at the County Lawn Tennis Courts in Tipperary town for the Opening|
of the Munster Junior Open Claycourt Championships! Running from June 20th to 26th, the tournament hit off on Sunday morning to fun round robin events with prizes for all under 8ís and 9ís, attracting competitors as young as 6 years old!
An astonishing 200 Juniors took part, and their enthusiasm and sporting prowess during the week was equaled only by John Isner and Nicholas Mahut whose record-setting marathon tennis match was shown live in the Clubhouse, to the delight of visitors and members!
The Consolation/Plate events, which ran in tandem with the main Championships ensured plenty of matches for all the participants.
The Junior Tournament was a feast of tennis, sun-kissed barbeques, delicious teas (for which the tennis club is celebrated), and sheer sporting fun!
